Therefore, below you will find some of the easy ways you can create a greener working environment today:

Go Paperless

Nowadays there isn’t much of a need to print things off in the office. In a modern office, it’s very rare to see a printer being used daily. Some of the ways you can help this are to send all announcements via email, use cloud services for storage and sharing files, and sending training packs directly to the staff through email or using remote screens. If you do need to use some paper, think about using recycled paper.

Get Rid Of The Plastic

The best thing you can do is to ditch the plastic. Make some simple swaps such as plastic cups and water bottles for reusable ones. Rather than using a coffee machine that dispenses plastic containers provide a kettle or hot water point and some coffee making facilities including coffee, milk, sugar, cream, and cups, saucers, and spoons. You could also consider adding a ‘bring your own reusable bottle’ program to work.

Recycle And Reuse As Much As Possible

This may seem a little obvious, however, if recycling points aren’t made obvious and asked to be used then they are much less likely to be utilized. Make sure you have easy to identify and recognizable recycling points and remember it’s about more than just recycling old paper. Encourage your employees to use both sides of the page in notebooks, use reusable containers, and recycle any items from the lunch that they can. Not only will it help your office to save money but it will also make you a greener office.

Offer A Way To Have A Green Commute

The time that the average person spends commuting can add up. This not only leads to higher levels of stress in your employees but it also contributes to carbon emissions. The daily commute is one of the main contributors that damage the environment. Consider offering a bike to work scheme, offering a remote working or hybrid working approach, and suggest carpooling instead of increasing car parking or offering a company car. If you have employees that have to complete a long daily commute, offering a remote working option could be one of the best ways you can make your business greener.

Introducing even a few of these small changes, it can have a huge impact on the earth. Think about including your sustainability efforts as part of your company mission statement. Please comment some of the ways you make your business greener in the comments below.
